Update 06.06.25
They are called Maratona, Cima, Campione, Rossi and Alpino: these five models of safety footwear with a sporty design were created three years ago from the alliance between Delta Plus and Maspica.
These models offer the best of both worlds:
Until now, Delta Plus offered a range of high-quality entry-level footwear. Maspica, on the other hand, catered to the most demanding professionals. ‘Our catalogue was missing a range to bridge the gap between the two,’ explains Boris Dodin, Global Product Line Manager at Delta Plus. That gap has now been filled with these new models!
Versatile and suitable for indoor and outdoor use, these new-generation shoes are mainly designed for workers in logistics, light industry, outdoor maintenance and networks.
In 2022, Delta Plus acquired Maspica, which develops Sixton safety footwear. These premium models are the benchmark in Northern Europe. ‘Whether in the choice of raw materials, moulds or manufacturing machines, the entire Sixton ecosystem is recognised and observed by manufacturers. It is considered to be at the cutting edge of safety footwear,’ says Boris Dodin.
The Maspica development teams, the product teams in Apt and the Delta Plus factory in India have joined forces to develop this range under the Delta Plus brand, but with a level of comfort and performance equivalent to a Sixton shoe produced in Italy.
‘The aim of the project was to develop a sports range, because this is a strong trend in the market. Young workers in particular are paying more and more attention to the design of their shoes and their working conditions. They are therefore looking for safety shoes that are attractive and comfortable, to the point where they can be forgotten,’ explains Boris Dodin.
The first step is to work with an external designer who proposes designs for the sole and upper. The Maspica teams then develop a series of five prototypes with their usual suppliers.
Maspica's secret recipe aims to ensure that the proportions, weight and internal volume of the shoe combine optimal protection with the best possible comfort. Particular attention has been paid to the composite toe cap, designed for lightness, the flexibility of the sole for smooth foot flexion, and the long-lasting cushioning.
After the necessary validation tests, the industrialisation phase began in India, supervised by Delta Plus product managers and Maspica teams. Adjustments were made, the stitching was refined, comfort foam was added... No detail was left to chance. Workers were trained and tools were adapted to this precision work to optimise production costs.
Since last November, these five models have been marketed mainly in Europe, including the Netherlands and Belgium, thanks to the acquisition of the Armor group, which has a strong presence in these territories.
‘We are very satisfied with the results of these products, which meet our ambitions. We could go into detail about their technical features to our customers, but the best way to convince them is to invite them to try them out. The initial feedback has been extremely positive and the launch phase is going very well,’ says Boris Dodin.
A second wave of products, designed on the same platform, is already in the pipeline. The aim is to offer new models, as well as models that comply with American standards for the South American market.
