PPE and High Visibility

Update 22.12.25

PPE: be visible from head to toe to avoid collisions

In certain professional sectors, operator visibility is a major safety factor. Whether on construction sites, in logistics warehouses or on roads, professionals must be identifiable from a distance to avoid any risk of collision.

High visibility requirements vary depending on the sector:
"The faster the vehicles are travelling, the more visible the worker needs to be from a distance," explains Julien Sittaro.

  • Low visibility PPE, class 1 and 2, will be used on construction sites and in warehouses.
  • Class 3 PPE, which offers maximum protection, is reserved for people carrying out public works on roads.

"Some high-visibility PPE now allows workers to be seen at night from up to 160 metres away, which is essential when working on motorways, for example," says Julien Sittaro.

High-visibility clothing at Delta Plus

Delta Plus currently offers a complete range of high-visibility PPE clothing for all needs and all seasons: shorts, high-visibility trousers, overalls, parkas and helmets. This diversity makes it possible to effectively equip all professionals, adapting protection to each work situation.

The evolution of high-visibility PPE

"In the past, high-visibility clothing was very basic, but today there is a growing focus on design, technical features and comfort," observes Julien Sittaro.

This transformation affects all aspects of PPE.

Firstly, the composition of the fibres: gone are the days of all-cotton or polyester! New compositions incorporate elastane for freedom of movement and explore technologies such as graphene

While reflective technology itself has changed little, the strips are now heat-sealed rather than sewn on for greater flexibility.

Autumn 2025: the Z-Line range from Delta Plus

In autumn 2025, Delta Plus launched a new range of high-visibility clothing called Z-Line, featuring a segmented strip design specially created for Delta Plus in a contrasting black colour.

"This range, made from recycled fibres, offers green products at a fair price," promises Julien Sittaro.

Their names? Luton HV, Sherpa HV and Grafiz HV, a waterproof outer layer that incorporates a graphene membrane with high breathability and thermal conductivity

For the summer collection, Delta Plus is currently working on high-visibility clothing that can reduce the effects of high temperatures. An essential innovation in light of global warming!

Caring for your high-visibility PPE

To maintain the effectiveness of high-visibility PPE, it is essential to follow the washing and drying instructions to avoid damaging the fibre and risking the reflective strips coming off. Some PPE is designed to withstand up to 50 washes. It is essential to adhere to these figures to maintain the optimum level of protection. What does "high visibility" mean?
High visibility PPE is high-visibility clothing that must enable the wearer to be seen by drivers of vehicles or other mechanical equipment, "in all lighting conditions, day and night, in the light of a vehicle's headlights."
What is the standard for high-visibility clothing?
The standards, which vary from country to country (EN ISO 20471 for Europe, ANSI 107-2020 EU for the USA, US CSA Z96-15 for Canada, etc.), define the performance requirements for high-visibility clothing (high-visibility clothing) and its level of visibility.
What colour is high-visibility clothing?
The colour of high-visibility clothing (often yellow or orange) is one of the performance criteria for high visibility, along with retroreflection and the "minimum surface area and positioning of materials used on the protective clothing". There are three classes of high-visibility clothing, each with a different surface area of fluorescent and reflective materials.
